When all else fails...

Hey there -

… Rest. 

Today is more of a PSA than anything else. 

I’ve been struggling with vertigo for the last 8 days (as of this writing.) If you’ve never had it, let me be the first to tell you, it’s no fun. 

I’ve rescheduled meetings that felt too important to do at half capacity. 

I’ve switched from video to phone so I could do other meetings lying down (my brain still works, just not so well from a sitting position!) 

I’ve pushed other meetings out a few weeks rather than trying to get them on the calendar sooner vs. later. (Because again, this thing has already lasted a week!) 

And in between all of that, I’ve rested. 

Whether this thing is viral or vestibular (inner ear, but admit it, you were impressed with my medical terminology), I know I need rest. 

This is not something I do well. I suspect it’s not something you do well either. It is definitely not something our current culture celebrates or encourages. 

So today, I’m here to invite you to step away, however you can, and attend to your mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. 

Doubling down and grinding it out are not sustainable strategies. For you, your team, or the organization. 

So give yourself some grace, take a breather, and model the behavior for those around you.
